The Sewing Basket is a privately run specialist Haberdashery and Needlecraft shop situated in the small market town of Melksham, some 10 miles east of Bath. It has been in its current premises for over 15 years and is now in its sixteenth year of trading. It has steadily grown to become one of the much sought after establishments in the West, drawing its customers from Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon, Gloucestershire, and many other areas. It specialises in Cross Stitch, Knitting, General Haberdashery and with the introduction of Daisy Doodles @ The Sewing Basket, the Papercrafting section has its own dedicated area catering for Card Making, Scrapbooking and Parchment by all the leading companies.
Evening classes are held at various times during the year and tuition is given by Lynne Jones, the shop proprietor. Greeting Card classes using various techniques are now in full flow. In addition theme classes for Christmas decorations are popular, and begin during September. Japanese Silk Ribbon materials are also available, tuition again being given by Lynne, who is one of only a few ladies in the UK who hold the Japanese Design School Diplomas.
